Alae grew up in Stellenbosch and matriculated as Dux scholar from Bloemhof Girls’ High in 2005 after which she pursued her medical studies at the University of Stellenbosch.
Following graduating cum laude in 2011 she gained valuable clinical experience at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital and Kimberley Hospital before coming back home to the University of Cape Town to specialise in Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine.
During her training at UCT she excelled in clinical- and research departments. Alae was elected registrar representative and was awarded the research prize for her publication in the British Journal of Anaesthesia. In 2019 she graduated cum laude for both her Master’s – and the Fellowship of the College of Anaesthesiologists (FCA) degrees.
In December 2020 she joined Southern Anaesthetics Associates and continued working in full time private practice.
