Alison grew up in Gauteng, matriculating with distinction (as dux scholar) at St Dominic’s Catholic School for Girls in 2005. She attended the University of Cape Town where she graduated MBChB (with distinction) in 2011.
Alison completed her internship at the Pietermaritzburg Hospital Complex in KZN and her community service and additional medical officer training at Helen Joseph Hospital in Gauteng, where she obtained the Diploma in Primary Emergency Care (Dip PEC) in 2014 and Diploma in Anaesthesiology (DA) in 2015.
Alison joined the UCT Anaesthesia training programme in February 2017 where she excelled in all departments. Besides attending all the advanced courses on offer and being elected registrar representative for 2018, she also received awards for “Registrar’s registrar of the year 2018”, “Best registrar in Cardiothoracic & Vascular anaesthesia 2019” and followed that up with a distinction in her Master of Medicine in Anaesthesiology in 2020. Alison became a Fellow of the College of Anaesthetists of South Africa in 2021.
Alison is passionate about providing access to quality healthcare and has been the anaesthetics coordinator for Project Flamingo since 2019. Since joining private practice in July 2021, she has been working independently, providing locum services for both private anaesthetic practices and Groote Schuur Hospital. She enjoys all aspects of anaesthesia but has regular involvement in general surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, urology, orthopaedics and vascular surgery.
