After graduating from the University of Cape Town, Dr Lance Thompson completed his internship at Edendale Hospital, KZN, and followed this with a year each as a Medical Officer in Paediatrics and Anaesthetics.
He then spent time in both Paediatrics and Anaesthetics in Jersey, Channel Islands. Thereafter, he returned to South Africa to specialise in Anaesthetics: initially in Durban, and completing his registrar time in the UCT Department. Dr Thompson stayed on in the UCT department for 2 years as a Junior Consultant and then completed a Fellowship in Paediatric Anaesthesia at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Sydney, Australia.
His medical travels continued back to South Africa, and then to England, where he worked as a long term locum Anesthetics Consultant.
He returned to South Africa in 2011, and joined Southern Anaesthetics in 2014.
